In 2024, Ratti renews its collaboration with the Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome for the ‘Master Fabrics Innovation Design’. This prestigious industry project involved 14 international students, who were asked to work on a brief from Ratti’s style office, with a central theme of exploring animal motifs. The students had to create a collection of innovative prints, combining classic animal motifs with contemporary designs, looking for a new interpretation that maintained elegance and sophistication. The research process encompasses historical and anthropological analysis, conceptual investigation and experimentation with techniques on different textile bases, with a strong emphasis on the principles of sustainability, especially considering the theme of nature-inspired design.
Guided by Daphne Karras, the students visited Ratti’s headquarters in Guanzate, explored the production departments and understood the complex stages of textile innovation and design. They also gained access to Ratti’s extensive archive, studied a rich collection of works from the past and deepened their understanding of the company’s design heritage.
This collaboration not only aims to rethink the school as a dynamic environment, but also to enhance and recognise the students’ talent and creativity, offering them a unique opportunity for growth and visibility in the fashion industry.
